A Sick gray laugh by nicole cushing
This is my first foray into Nicole Cushing’s writing and it will be something I will always remember. A monumental milestone in my life as a horror writer. A Sick Gray Laugh, written in 2019, turns out be strangely prophetic for the year that follows it—2020—and delves into the madness of being a writer, her own mental illness, and the “Grayness” that tightens around all Americans’ throats. There is a lot of weirdness saturated upon history, utopian societies, religious cults, the Midwest, American disintegration through its cultural ideals, and so forth. In other words, the book is DENSE. But very readable for dense. Told through an unreliable narrator, the story revolves around “staring out a window at the Grayness.”
